Air Conditioning Repair and Full System Check on a Bosch Setup in Las Vegas

On this visit, our Fast Affordable Air technician inspected both the outdoor and indoor sides of the central AC system, including refrigerant readings, electrical connections, and the drain system that removes moisture.

Step 1: Checking system pressures with digital gauges

We connected Yellow Jacket digital manifold gauges to the outdoor unit service ports to see how the system was running. The display showed readings around 68.3 psi on the low side and about 281.7 psi on the high side at the time of testing. These numbers are like a “health check” for your Heating and Cooling system.

Quick definitions (simple):

  • Refrigerant: the special fluid inside the lines that carries heat out of your home. Think “heat taxi.”
  • PSI: a pressure number. It helps us see if the system is moving refrigerant correctly.
  • Low side / suction: the cooler side returning to the compressor. Example: the bigger insulated copper line.
  • High side / liquid: the hotter side leaving the compressor toward the coil outside.

Pressure numbers alone do not tell the whole story, so we also look at outdoor temperature, indoor airflow, and how the equipment behaves. That is how we avoid guessing and protect the customer from unnecessary parts.

Step 2: Outdoor unit inspection and safe electrical checks

Next we inspected the outdoor condenser area. The outdoor unit is the part that dumps heat outside, and it needs clean airflow and safe wiring. We also verified the disconnect and electrical compartment condition while the gauges were connected.

Safety note (important):

Outdoor units contain high voltage and moving parts. A trained tech uses proper shutoff steps and tools to reduce risk. This is one reason professional HVAC service matters.

We also looked at the installation space. Some condensers sit in tight side yards. When airflow is blocked by walls, stored items, or heavy debris, an Air Conditioner can run hotter and longer. That can increase energy use and wear on parts.

Step 3: Indoor equipment and airflow pathway check

Cooling is not only “outside.” Inside, we inspected the furnace/air handler area and the evaporator coil cabinet. This is where warm indoor air gets cooled before it goes back into the rooms. We checked the duct connections and the general condition of the indoor setup.

More simple definitions:

  • Evaporator coil: the cold metal “radiator” inside that removes heat from your air.
  • Ductwork: the air “tunnels” that carry cooled air to rooms and bring warm air back.
  • Air handler: the indoor blower section that moves air across the coil.

Even a great Central Air Conditioning unit can feel weak if airflow is restricted. Common causes include dirty filters, blocked returns, crushed flex duct, or buildup on the coil. During a proper repair, we confirm airflow basics so the system is not forced to “fight” just to move air.

Step 4: Attic system review and condensate drain protection

We also checked the attic-installed Bosch equipment and the condensate piping. In simple terms, cooling makes moisture, and that water must drain away safely. If a drain is clogged or not built correctly, it can trigger safety shutoffs or even cause ceiling water damage.

Condensate words made easy:

  • Condensate: water that forms when warm air hits the cold coil, like water on a cold soda can.
  • Trap: a “U-shaped” pipe section that holds a little water to stop air from being sucked the wrong way.
  • Float switch: a small safety device that can shut the system off if water backs up too much.

In Las Vegas, attic temperatures can get extreme. That heat can stress insulation, drain lines, and wiring over time. A quick attic inspection helps catch small problems early, before they turn into a no-cool emergency.
