Outdoor Central Air Conditioner Installation and Leveling Repair

On this air conditioning service call in North Las Vegas, Fast Affordable Air completed a detailed inspection and leveling of a newly installed Rheem central AC package unit next to a manufactured home. This central air system is responsible for providing both cooling and heating to the home from a single outdoor unit—making it vital that it’s installed correctly and safely.

Installation & Electrical Setup

The outdoor condenser was mounted on a concrete pad resting over compacted gravel to ensure proper drainage and ground stability. All refrigerant lines, electrical conduits, and drain piping were professionally secured to code. The disconnect box is mounted cleanly on the wall nearby for quick shutoff access—essential during maintenance or emergencies.

System Leveling and Proper Pitch

One critical part of any air conditioning installation is making sure the unit is level. If it’s tilted, it can cause problems like vibration noise, compressor damage, and water pooling.

We used a torpedo level—a compact bubble level tool—to check both the side-to-side and front-to-back alignment of the unit. As shown in the photos, we ensured that the bubble sat squarely between the black lines. This confirms the unit sits flat and has the proper slope toward the drain, as required by most manufacturers.

Sealing Penetrations

The area where the electrical conduit enters the home was originally left exposed. We filled and sealed this wall penetration with expanding foam insulation to keep out pests, weather, and moisture. This also protects the interior insulation and wall cavity from rust and damage over time.

Drainage and Efficiency

The PVC condensate lines at the base of the Rheem unit help drain away moisture that the system removes from the indoor air. This keeps the unit efficient and prevents standing water inside the cabinet, which could lead to mold or rust issues if not handled properly.

Brand and Product Quality

This home was equipped with a Rheem Classic Series packaged HVAC unit. Rheem is known for long-lasting compressors, energy-efficient performance, and solid build quality. It’s a great choice for Las Vegas weather, where the cooling season is long and demanding.

Why Leveling Matters in HVAC

A unit that isn’t level can lead to oil migration away from the compressor, which starves it of lubrication and can cause premature failure. By getting the leveling right during installation, we help ensure the air conditioner runs smoothly and quietly—protecting the investment and keeping energy bills low.

Service Area

This project was completed in North Las Vegas, but Fast Affordable Air serves all of Clark County, including Las Vegas, Henderson, and North Las Vegas.

Summary

This AC service involved confirming a properly sealed wall penetration, verifying level installation with a bubble level, checking for correct drainage slope, and securing all electrical connections. These steps protect the system from damage and ensure safe, long-lasting performance in the extreme Nevada heat.
