Red Rock Casino, Resort and Spa – Vegas Resort Fun Outside The Strip

Although most of the casinos and resorts in Las Vegas is found in the Strip, those who are looking for a more laid-back and relaxed vacation away from the usual tourist destinations still have a couple of great options. There are a couple of resort options that offer world-class amenities, food, and shopping.

Red Rock Casino, Resort and Spa, located just west of the strip in the affluent community of Summerlin, offers all the great features of a 4-star hotel without the usual Vegas crowd.

The resort is operated and owned by Station Casinos and is situated on a 59.43 acre land in Downtown Summerlin.

Plans to open Red Rock Resort was announced in mid-2002. Named after the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area that’s close by the resort, it initially was planned to have a 23-floor, 300 foot hotel tower that accommodated 1,000 rooms. Because of opposition from Summerlin residents that the height of the building might destroy the views of the nearby canyon, the hotel tower was reduced to 198 feet.

Construction began during the first quarter of 2004 and was aimed to finish by March 2005. The resort officially opened on April 18, 2006 and was the second casino in Summerlin.
The resort includes a 118,309 sq ft casino, a 3-acre pool area, a spa, 94,000 sq ft of meeting space, and a 16-screen movie theater.

A recipient of the AAA Four Diamond Award since opening, Red Rock Resort was also named one of the world’s best new hotels by Conde Nast Traveler magazine.

The hotel houses 830 rooms with different price ranges and sizes. Other than the usual standard and double rooms, the hotel also offers a number of suits and villas. The decor is elegant, inspired by mid-century modern design. The resort architecture incorporates natural light, a convenient layout, and the comforts of a modern lifestyle. The rooms also have stunning views of the Strip and mountains.

It’s not Vegas without the thrill of a little gambling. Red Rock Resort’s state-of-the-art casino features thousands of games, from slot machines, video poker, and table games galore. Classic casino games like blackjack, baccarat, craps and roulette are available. The casino also has race and sports book displays where bettors can sit back and enjoy the game with giant TV screens and individual monitors.

Get a soothing massage or facial, have your nails done by celebrity nail artists, choose from a variety of hair and face treatments, or just have a trim done. Guests can enjoy a variety of dining options at the resort. Their restaurants offer a great spread of gourmet and casual cuisines from all over the world with room service available at just a call away.
