AC Not Cooling Enough? Here’s How Fast Affordable Air Got It Fixed

When a Las Vegas homeowner noticed their home wasn’t cooling like it used to, they called Fast Affordable Air. The AC was running, but the indoor air didn’t feel very cold—something many people experience in the hot Nevada summer.

Checking Airflow Temperatures

We began the diagnosis indoors using an infrared thermometer to measure the temperature of the air blowing from the supply vents. The first reading came in at 81.5°F, which is far too warm for supply air. Typically, central air conditioning systems should blow air around 55°F to 60°F when working correctly.

After some time and a few adjustments, we rechecked another supply vent and recorded a new reading of 73.5°F. While this was better, it still wasn’t in the ideal cooling range, so we turned our attention to the outdoor condensing unit for deeper diagnostics.

Refrigerant Pressure Test with Manifold Gauges

Outside, we connected a professional Yellow Jacket manifold gauge set to the condenser to check refrigerant pressures. This is how HVAC techs determine if the system has the correct amount of refrigerant and is running efficiently. The gauges told us a lot:

  • The blue gauge (low side) read about 125 psi
  • The red gauge (high side) was around 410 psi

These pressures are common for systems using R-410A refrigerant on a hot day in Las Vegas, but in this case, the high side was running a bit too high, suggesting the condenser coils could be dirty, or there could be a restriction somewhere in the refrigerant line.

After cleaning the coils and inspecting the line set for proper insulation and flow, we noticed the pressure balanced out to a more optimal range (closer to 365 psi high and 120 psi low). This balancing act allowed the AC system to work more efficiently and restored proper cooling throughout the house.

Why This Matters for Homeowners

Many homeowners don’t realize how much pressure imbalance or even a little bit of dirt on the outdoor coil can affect the entire HVAC system. When the condenser can’t release heat properly, it raises system pressure and reduces cooling efficiency indoors.

By using professional-grade tools like manifold gauges and infrared thermometers, Fast Affordable Air technicians can pinpoint and fix the root of the problem—not just guess. This helps avoid expensive part replacements and extends the life of your central AC system.

If you live in Las Vegas, Henderson, or North Las Vegas, proper AC repair starts with accurate diagnostics. This project shows how simple readings can lead to big improvements in indoor comfort.

How You Know It Worked

After the refrigerant levels were adjusted and pressures normalized, we checked the air vents again. This time, the air coming from the vents was significantly cooler than before, dropping to the low 70s and continuing to fall with runtime. This means the central cooling system is now removing heat from the home properly.

Our team takes HVAC performance seriously and uses trusted brands like Yellow Jacket for testing and diagnosis. By identifying pressure issues early, you save energy and reduce wear on your system.
