Recently, Fast Affordable Air completed an air conditioning project at a residential home in Las Vegas. The job involved the installation of a new 3-Ton 14 SEER2 Rheem Endeavor Package Unit, designed to significantly improve the cooling efficiency for the homeowner, especially during the hot Las Vegas summers. This project faced unique challenges, such as navigating a rooftop installation, which required precise coordination and innovative techniques to ensure a seamless and secure fit.
Procedure:
1. Removal of the Existing Unit: The first step was to safely remove the old unit. As you can see in the first few photos, the previous air conditioner had seen better days. This involved disconnecting the refrigerant lines and securing the electrical connections to ensure safety before removing the unit from its elevated platform on the roof. Working on rooftops requires additional safety precautions, as the equipment needs to be carefully lifted using hoists to avoid damage to both the system and the roof structure.
2. Prepping the New Base: In the next step, we prepped the base for the new Rheem Endeavor Package Unit. The base of the AC system is crucial for maintaining stability and proper airflow. Any weakness here could lead to long-term inefficiencies or damage. We reinforced the base with new metal flashing and made sure it was level, as shown in the second image where you see the opening prepared for the new installation.
3. Installing the New Unit: Once the base was secure, we moved the 3-ton Rheem Endeavor Package Unit into place. As seen in the third image, the new unit is sleek and modern, offering significantly better energy efficiency compared to the older model. This is due to its 14 SEER2 rating, which means the homeowner will experience lower energy bills while enjoying a more comfortable home environment. The unit was secured to the base using heavy-duty fasteners to withstand the harsh weather conditions Las Vegas often experiences, from intense heat to monsoon rains.
4. Connecting Refrigerant and Electrical Lines: We then moved on to connecting the refrigerant lines, ensuring no leaks were present during the installation. It’s vital to make sure the refrigerant system is sealed tight to avoid future performance issues. The electrical connections were inspected and upgraded where necessary to match the demands of the new unit, ensuring the safety and longevity of the system.
5. Testing and Fine-Tuning: After everything was installed, we ran a series of tests to make sure the unit was performing optimally. This included checking the cooling capacity, airflow, and thermostat accuracy. As seen in the final image, the new Rheem system blends well with the surrounding environment, both aesthetically and functionally.
