Air Conditioning Project in Las Vegas – 3-Ton Ceiling-Mounted Heat Pump Split System

At Fast Affordable Air, we recently completed an air conditioning project at a residential property in Las Vegas, NV. This project involved the installation of a 3-ton ceiling-mounted heat pump split system. We used high-quality components to ensure the new system would operate efficiently and provide long-lasting comfort for the homeowners. The unique aspect of this project was the ceiling-mounted configuration, which requires a specific setup compared to standard ground-level units. Let’s walk through the process step by step and explain how we handled this challenge.

Step-by-Step Procedure:

  1. Assessment and Removal of Old System: The first step involved removing the old air conditioning system, which was outdated and inefficient. Our team carefully disconnected the refrigerant lines, electrical wiring, and ductwork to ensure a smooth transition to the new system.

  2. Installing the Heat Pump: The heart of this system is the 3-ton ceiling-mounted heat pump. This type of heat pump is ideal for homes with limited outdoor space, as the bulk of the system is installed indoors. The heat pump is housed in the ceiling, allowing for better air distribution throughout the house.

    • Image 1 shows the mounting of the heat pump system in the ceiling, highlighting the careful sealing of joints and proper insulation to prevent air leaks.
  3. Connecting Refrigerant Lines: After the heat pump was mounted, we connected the refrigerant lines, which are crucial for transferring heat between the indoor and outdoor units. We used high-efficiency refrigerant lines to maximize the system’s cooling capacity while minimizing energy loss.

    • Image 2 showcases our refrigerant line manifold gauge, which is essential for checking refrigerant levels and system pressure.
  4. Outdoor Unit Installation: The outdoor unit of the system was placed in the backyard. Our technicians ensured it was level and free from obstructions like plants or debris, which could reduce efficiency.

    • Image 3 and Image 4 show the outdoor unit installed in a clean and efficient setup, with insulated refrigerant lines extending to the indoor unit.
  5. Sealing and Final Testing: Finally, we sealed all openings in the ceiling where the system was mounted to prevent air leaks. This is critical to ensuring the system maintains proper pressure and operates efficiently. The entire setup was tested to ensure the system was operating at optimal performance, as seen in Image 2, where our Fieldpiece manifold shows the refrigerant levels.

    • Testing and diagnostics were done using Fieldpiece SMAN Refrigerant Manifold tools to check for any potential issues before commissioning the system.

Brands Used in This Project:

For this installation, we used products from Rheem, a brand known for its durability and high-performance air conditioning units. The heat pump split system we installed is highly efficient and designed for both cooling and heating, making it perfect for the Las Vegas climate. Additionally, we used ADP Plenum components, which are reliable and ensure seamless airflow and system performance.

  • Why Rheem?: Rheem units are designed for energy efficiency and longevity. They come with robust warranties and are built to withstand the hot and arid climate of Las Vegas.
  • Why ADP Plenum?: The ADP Plenum components ensure efficient air distribution through the home, improving comfort and reducing energy costs.

Project Benefits:

  • Energy Efficiency: By upgrading to a high-efficiency heat pump system, the homeowners can expect to see significant savings on their energy bills. The system is optimized for both heating and cooling, making it ideal for year-round comfort.
  • Improved Indoor Air Quality: The new system includes better filtration, which improves indoor air quality by reducing dust and allergens in the air.
  • Quiet Operation: One of the best features of this ceiling-mounted system is its quiet operation. The homeowners noticed an immediate difference in noise levels compared to their old system.

In Summary:

This project highlights how Fast Affordable Air can handle unique HVAC installations, such as ceiling-mounted systems. The combination of high-quality brands like Rheem and ADP ensures optimal performance, energy savings, and long-lasting comfort.
