Air Conditioning Repair Project: York Central Cooling System in Las Vegas

Fast Affordable Air was recently called to repair and service a York central air conditioning system for a homeowner in Las Vegas. With high summer temperatures in Clark County, it’s essential for AC systems to run smoothly. Our inspection included the outdoor condenser, attic furnace, ductwork, and refrigerant lines.

Indoor Unit Inspection

Inside the attic, the system uses a Diamond 80 gas furnace paired with an evaporator coil. The evaporator coil is the component that cools the air before it moves through the ducts. We inspected the condensate drain lines—these are the white PVC pipes that remove water created during the cooling process. If they clog, it can lead to leaks and water damage.

We also checked the refrigerant lines, which connect the indoor coil to the outdoor unit. These copper lines carry the refrigerant back and forth. Proper insulation was reviewed to ensure no energy is lost during the cooling cycle.

Outdoor Unit Servicing

The outdoor condenser is a York system. This is where heat from the home is released into the outside air. Over time, dirt, dust, and yard debris can clog the coil fins, forcing the system to work harder. We performed a coil cleaning to improve airflow and efficiency. A clean coil means the system can cool the house faster while using less electricity.

Ductwork and Airflow

The duct system in the attic was carefully inspected. We looked for gaps, leaks, or poor sealing. Duct leaks can waste cooled air into the attic and raise utility bills. To prevent this, duct connections were re-taped and secured where needed. Proper airflow ensures even cooling throughout the home.

Why This Matters

Maintaining both the indoor and outdoor components of a central air conditioner extends the system’s life and improves efficiency. A clean, sealed, and fully operational HVAC system not only provides reliable cooling but also saves homeowners money by reducing wasted energy.

Simple Explanation

Think of your AC like your body: the outdoor unit is like your skin letting off heat, and the indoor unit is like your lungs breathing cool air inside. If one part doesn’t work right, the whole system struggles. That’s why keeping coils clean, pipes clear, and ducts sealed is so important.
