Outdoor Condenser Inspection

The outdoor condenser is the metal unit outside the home. It has a fan, a coil, a compressor, electrical parts, and refrigerant lines. In simple words, this part helps move heat from inside the home to the outside air. If the condenser fan does not run correctly, the home may feel warm even when the thermostat is calling for Cooling.

In the photos, the fan guard was removed or viewed closely so the technician could check the fan motor area. The fan blades and motor area were inspected for wear, dirt, loose wiring, and signs of overheating. A fan motor is the part that spins the blade. When it gets weak, the central AC can struggle to move air across the outdoor coil.

Capacitor Testing and Replacement

The project included testing capacitors with a Fieldpiece SC440 meter. A capacitor is a small electrical part that gives a motor the extra push it needs to start and keep running. A simple example is like giving a bicycle a push to get it moving. Without that push, the motor may hum, start slowly, or not start at all.

One photo shows a Titan HD motor run capacitor labeled 40/370 MFD with a 5 percent rating. Another photo shows the meter reading around 47.49 while testing a capacitor. The technician also checked a 10.11 reading on the meter, which is the kind of test used to compare the real reading to the rating printed on the capacitor.

Inside the electrical panel, the repair included Titan capacitor parts mounted and wired into the system. The larger silver capacitor appears to be a Titan HD 45 MFD 440VAC capacitor, and the smaller one appears to be a Titan Pro 5 MFD 440VAC capacitor. These parts help the compressor and fan motor work more reliably when the Air Conditioner starts.

Refrigerant Pressure Check

The technician also connected a manifold gauge set to the outdoor Air Conditioning system. A manifold gauge is a tool used to read refrigerant pressure. Refrigerant is the special fluid inside the AC system that carries heat. It does not make cold air by itself. It moves heat from one place to another.

The blue gauge reads the low side of the system, and the red gauge reads the high side. These readings help the technician see if the central Air Conditioner is running in a normal range. Pressure readings can also point to airflow problems, low refrigerant, overcharging, dirty coils, or other system issues. These numbers are not guessed. They are checked while the equipment is running.

Attic Air Handler and Duct Inspection

The attic photos show the indoor part of the Heating and Cooling system. This section includes the furnace or air handler, duct connections, gas line connection, condensate drain piping, and access panels. The air handler is the part that moves air through the home. It pulls warm indoor air in, passes it across the cooling coil, then sends cooler air back into the rooms.

The duct connection was sealed with mastic around the metal cabinet and ductwork. Mastic is a thick gray sealing material used to close air leaks. A simple example is like using strong paste around a gap so air cannot escape. Air leaks in an attic can waste Cooling power because some of the cold air may leak into the attic instead of reaching the rooms.

The PVC drain pipes were also visible near the indoor system. These pipes carry water away from the AC coil. When warm air passes over a cold coil, water can form. That water has to drain safely. If a drain line clogs, it can cause water damage, ceiling stains, or system shutdowns.

Ceiling Access and Service Area

One picture shows the ceiling access panel used to reach the attic HVAC equipment. This is important because many Las Vegas homes have the indoor Air Conditioning equipment installed above the ceiling. A clean and usable access point helps the technician inspect the system safely and reach the parts that need service.

During this kind of repair, the technician checks more than one part. A weak capacitor can stop the condenser fan or compressor. A loose wire can stop the system from starting.
