Bosch AC Repair and Performance Testing in Las Vegas

At Fast Affordable Air, we recently completed an air conditioning service project on a home in Clark County. The house had multiple central air conditioners installed, including a Bosch unit, and the homeowner noticed inconsistent cooling in some areas.

Step 1: Outdoor System Inspection

We began with a full inspection of the outdoor condensing units. These are the large metal boxes outside that hold the compressor and condenser coil. They work by releasing heat from the house into the outdoor air. Keeping them clean and charged with the correct refrigerant is key to good cooling performance.

In the photo, you can see one of the Bosch systems connected to a set of gauges. These gauges measure refrigerant pressure. Proper pressures tell us if the system has enough refrigerant or if it might have a leak.

Step 2: Checking Refrigerant Pressures

Using our manifold gauges, we recorded both the high-side and low-side pressures. The high side refers to the part of the system where the refrigerant is hot and pressurized, while the low side refers to the cooler, lower-pressure side. These readings help us verify that the air conditioner is operating correctly and not straining the compressor.

Step 3: Airflow and Temperature Measurements

We then moved indoors to check the air coming out of the supply vents. Using an infrared thermometer, we measured vent temperatures as low as 67.9°F. Since the thermostat was set to 71°F, this confirmed that the system was providing a healthy temperature drop across the evaporator coil. A proper cooling system usually shows about a 15-20 degree difference between the return air (room temperature air being pulled in) and the supply air (cold air coming out of the vents).

We also measured other areas of the home, such as near the stairs, where the temperature was around 72.3°F. This showed us that the system was distributing cool air consistently throughout the house.

Step 4: Thermostat Review

The Ecobee thermostat was set to 71°F. A smart thermostat like this allows better control and scheduling of HVAC use, helping homeowners reduce energy costs while staying comfortable. Pairing a properly tuned AC system with a smart thermostat ensures maximum efficiency.

Step 5: Final System Check

With refrigerant pressures in range and supply air temperatures consistent, we confirmed that the repaired system was working well. The cooling performance showed stable indoor comfort, and the homeowner could rely on their central air conditioners to keep the house comfortable during the Las Vegas heat.

Why This Matters

When AC systems are regularly serviced, they run more efficiently and last longer. Proper refrigerant levels protect the compressor, clean coils improve airflow, and accurate thermostat settings reduce wasted energy. Homeowners can save on utility bills and avoid expensive emergency repairs.
