Comprehensive Air Conditioning Repair and Upgrade

At Fast Affordable Air, we recently completed a significant air conditioning repair and upgrade project for a homeowner in Las Vegas. The existing system was struggling to keep up with the intense summer heat, so we recommended a full inspection and subsequent upgrade to ensure optimal performance.

Inspection and Diagnosis

The first step in any successful HVAC project is a thorough inspection. Upon arriving at the client’s home, we began by inspecting the outdoor unit and ductwork in the attic. From the images provided, you can see the ductwork in the attic space, which had insulation but required some adjustments for better efficiency.

The inspection revealed some key issues:

  • Insufficient Insulation: The ductwork, though wrapped, had areas where the insulation was thinning out, leading to potential energy loss.
  • Unit Placement: The air handler in the attic was properly placed but needed some adjustments to ensure it was level and secure.
  • Outdoor Unit Maintenance: The outdoor condenser unit needed a comprehensive cleaning to remove debris and ensure optimal airflow.

Repair and Upgrade Process

After the inspection, we proceeded with the necessary repairs and upgrades:

1. Ductwork Adjustment and Sealing

We started by addressing the ductwork. Ensuring that ducts are properly sealed is crucial for maintaining the efficiency of the air conditioning system. Any leaks in the ductwork can cause cool air to escape, leading to higher energy bills and reduced comfort.

In the image above, you can see the ductwork after adjustments and sealing. We used high-quality mastic sealant to ensure that no air escapes the system, thereby improving the overall efficiency of the central air conditioning.

2. Air Handler Leveling and Securing

The next step was to ensure the air handler in the attic was properly leveled and securely mounted. An unlevel air handler can cause undue stress on the system, leading to increased wear and tear. By securing the unit, we not only improved its operational efficiency but also reduced the noise level.

In the image, you can see the air handler unit after it was leveled and securely fastened. This step is often overlooked but is critical for the longevity of the air conditioning system.

3. Outdoor Unit Cleaning and Maintenance

The final step in our process was to clean and maintain the outdoor condenser unit. The outdoor unit is exposed to the elements, and over time, dirt, leaves, and other debris can accumulate, reducing its efficiency. We carefully cleaned the unit and checked all connections to ensure it was functioning at its best.

This maintenance step is crucial for extending the life of the air conditioning system and keeping it running smoothly, especially during the hot Las Vegas summers.

Benefits of Our Service

By addressing these issues, we were able to significantly improve the efficiency of the client’s central air conditioning system. This not only ensures a cooler home but also reduces energy bills. Properly sealed ducts and a clean outdoor unit mean the system doesn’t have to work as hard to maintain a comfortable temperature, leading to lower operational costs.
