At Fast Affordable Air, we were called to service a home in the Las Vegas area after the customer reported reduced cooling performance and strange noises coming from the outdoor unit. The inspection and repairs included several important components of their central air conditioning system—both inside the attic and outside near the condenser.
Outdoor Condenser Coil and Compressor Cleaning
Upon opening the outdoor condenser unit, we found a large amount of dirt, sediment, and debris collected at the base of the unit surrounding the compressor. The compressor is the heart of the AC system—it pumps refrigerant through the coils and lines to cool the air. Dirt buildup here can reduce efficiency and cause overheating. We used a low-pressure hose to carefully wash the inside of the cabinet, removing all the sludge and restoring proper drainage.
Clogged or dirty condenser coils can block heat transfer, making your cooling system work harder and use more energy. Keeping this area clean is one of the simplest ways to improve your air conditioner’s performance and lifespan.
Fan Motor and Electrical Check
We also removed the fan blade and inspected the condenser fan motor. The top of the unit showed signs of corrosion around the motor mount and rust along the fan guard. After confirming that the motor bearings were still in good shape, we re-secured the wiring and reinstalled the fan. We always check for loose or worn wiring during these visits to prevent future breakdowns.
Attic Air Handler and Furnace Inspection
Inside the attic, we inspected the York brand air handler. This included checking refrigerant lines, duct connections, gas lines, and the evaporator coil housing. We noticed heavy dust and dirt buildup on the ductwork and insulation. This kind of buildup restricts airflow and can lead to hot and cold spots throughout the home.
The attic unit’s PVC drain piping was also checked to ensure the condensate was draining properly. We tested all electrical connections and verified that the blower motor was running at the correct speed. In systems like these, even a partially clogged drain or loose duct can reduce indoor comfort and strain the HVAC system.
Benefits of the Repairs and Cleaning
- Restored proper air conditioning function
- Improved energy efficiency by clearing debris from the condenser coil
- Reduced risk of system failure by cleaning the compressor and motor
- Safer attic unit with checked and secured gas lines and drains
- Cleaner air distribution from sealed and cleared ductwork
Our team follows best practices as recommended by the U.S. Department of Energy and manufacturers like York. Routine maintenance like this doesn’t just keep your home cooler—it can save hundreds on utility bills by keeping your system running smoothly.
