AC Repair and Refrigerant Diagnostics on a Lennox Split System

When it comes to keeping Las Vegas homes cool in the blazing summer heat, Fast Affordable Air gets the job done with precision. In this recent air conditioning repair project, our team serviced a Lennox split system installed in a residential attic. This system uses R-410A refrigerant, a high-efficiency option found in many modern HVAC systems.

Initial Diagnosis

Our technician began with a full diagnostic of the outdoor condenser unit. This Lennox system was showing signs of insufficient cooling. We hooked up our Yellow Jacket digital gauges to check refrigerant pressure and temperature levels. The initial readings came back with a high-side pressure of 208.7 psi and a low-side pressure of 208.3 psi at 68.6°F saturation temperature — far too equal, which typically indicates a non-running compressor or an issue with flow restriction.

Indoor System Inspection

We moved into the attic, where the gas furnace and evaporator coil are housed. The system is connected to foil-wrapped flexible ductwork, and all components were inspected for airflow restriction, motor performance, and signs of refrigerant oil around joints. Everything was intact, but the system wasn’t cooling properly.

We observed a MasterZone zoning control system wired into the attic structure — an advanced feature that controls airflow to different zones of the home. This helped us isolate the performance of each zone to identify potential distribution problems.

Pressure Correction and Refrigerant Rebalancing

After confirming there were no airflow obstructions or electrical faults, we re-checked refrigerant pressures post-adjustment. The updated readings showed:

  • Low Side: 98.5 psi at 27.6°F
  • High Side: 231.5 psi at 75.3°F

This adjustment brought the system back into optimal operating range. The split between the low and high side indicates the compressor is working properly and refrigerant is cycling efficiently throughout the system.

System Benefits

Correct refrigerant pressures ensure more than just cooling. They prevent long-term compressor damage, reduce energy consumption, and restore comfort quickly. With the zoning system operational, the homeowners now enjoy more targeted cooling that saves them money while maintaining their ideal indoor climate.
